I am a title rep for a national title insurance company based in Phoenix, Arizona. I help my clients leverage technology and social media to get more business. One of the ways I do this is with video. Using video in real estate is not the future, it is the present. Given a choice between reading an article or watching a video about it, I am going to go out on a limb and say 85% would choose video. I know I would. It’s because of this that most buyers and sellers will look for video. It used to be that video was only available through big expensive virtual tour companies, but that has now changed. In fact, as a Realtor, you can and hopefully already are making your own videos of your listings. Just my opinion, but unless you need a video tour of a multi million dollar listing, a normal flip Mino HD camera, Kodak Zi8 or even the iPhone 4 should work just fine.
I have been teaching Realtors how to use social media tools for a few years now, one of my favorites is YouTube. Youtube is the second largest search engine in the world behind Google. You can upload a video to your own personal Youtube channel in a matter of minutes after choosing your tags, description and keywords. Keep your video at 10 minutes or shorter and you are good to go. In the youtube class I teach, one of the complaints I routinely hear is the cost of editing software. Some of the agents that attend my classes are new to real estate and therefor may not have a laptop computer or the editing software needed to make a quality video. No matter how good you are, there will certainly need to be some editing before your video is complete. As a MAC user, I choose iMovie or Camtasia depending on my needs but as of June there is another option. And its FREE!
In June 2010, Youtube launched its Video Editor. The video editor will allow you to edit your videos, add transitions etc.. You can access the editor by clicking HERE. The short video below will demonstrate how to YouTube’s Editor Tool, and edit your videos.
Enjoy!
